During your Voice Assessment, I will evaluate your current vocal ability. This guide outlines the activities I will conduct to evaluate your current abilities and potential. This process helps me understand your strengths and areas for improvement, ensuring a personalized and effective learning experience.
1. Vocal Warm-Ups
Purpose: To assess your current vocal range, flexibility, and technique.
Activity: We will start with basic vocal warm-up exercises. This will help me understand your vocal capabilities and prepare you for further exercises
2. Pitch Matching and Ear Training
Purpose: To gauge your musical ear and pitch accuracy.
Activity: You will be asked to match a series of notes played on the piano and complete simple ear training exercises.
3. Sight-Reading (if applicable)
Purpose: To evaluate your ability to read and perform music at first sight.
Activity: You will be provided with a short, simple piece of music to sight-read. For intermediate to advanced students, a moderately challenging piece will be used.
4. Repertoire Performance (if applicable)
Purpose: To assess your interpretation, diction, and overall performance skills. I will also observe how you incorporate feedback and handle familiar material.
Activity: Please prepare a song of your choice to perform. I will evaluate your performance and provide feedback. I will give feedback and observe your ability to incorporate suggestions.
5. Technical Exercises (if applicable)
Purpose: To understand your familiarity with vocal techniques and adaptability to new exercises.
Activity: You will perform specific technical exercises you are familiar with, and I will introduce a new exercise to see how you learn and adapt.
6. Feedback Session
Purpose: To discuss and observe your response to feedback and communication with me as your potential voice teacher.
Activity: I will briefly go over my assessment with you. Your responsiveness to instruction and ability to incorporate feedback will be observed.
